Skagafjörður, often named the mecca of horsemanship, is without a doubt one of Iceland's most beautiful fjords, a natural gem. The Troll-Peninsula in all its glory and the phenomenal islands Málmey and Drangey, not to mention Þórðarhöfði-cliff which is magnificent. The mountains, the arctic ocean, the farms, the amazing swimming pool in Hofsós and the village itself, hiking, horseriding trips, museums and saga, boat rides and whale-watching is just a fraction of what there is to see and do in this spectacular fjord. Lónkot is located halfway between Sauðárkrókur and Siglufjörður which are little towns worth visiting. Skagafjörður is an outstanding choice to visit in the north-west that leaves no one untouched.

Lónkot attracts flocks of birds that nest over the summer allowing their guests to get up close and personal on occasion. Sheep are also regular visitors from our neighbors farmers. Sometimes we get to look at seals from our shingle shore. Hiking is also a good option to get nature inside and feel the energy kick in from all directions.
